Her research activity is mainly dedicated to the structural and thermal characterization of polymeric formulates and nanocomposites as well as the polymer degradation phenomena during processing and in service use. In particular, her scientific interest has been centred on molecular analysis of macromolecules by advances mass spectrometry techniques (MALDI-TOF, ESI-MS, SEC/MALDI); molar masses determination by viscometry, 1H-NMR, SEC and SEC/MALDI; characterization and quantification of stabilizers, flame retardants, additives, by-products and degradation products; thermal analysis by hyphenated MS techniques (DP-MS, Py-GCMS and TGA-MS); studies of degradation mechanisms (pyrolysis, chemical, thermo and photo-oxidation) and stabilization in engineering polymeric materials.
